Going to Singapore..

Have finished making lodging arrangement for my trip down to Singapore next week.. :)

Will be taking a couch down to Singapore on the night of 21st Feb and arrived on the 22nd.. Will be staying in a backpacker's hostel for the first 3 nights before "upgrading" to a proper hotel for the next 2 nights.. so I would be in Singapore till 27 Feb.. taking the couch back to Taiping on 27th Feb night.. :)

Already making plans to meet up with old friends, friends and ex-colleagues.. and also do some shopping and revisit some familiar places... :)

What an Ass....

Been kinda easily irritable these few days..

First is the guy who say he wont do it and yet did it anyway.. Fellow Malaysians, you know who I am referring to..

Then today, another idiot, not living next door to my parents' house but related to them, decided to light up some mega huge loud-ass fireworks right in front of my house.. didnt even have the courtesy to inform us in advance.. what an ass...

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

Sorry that I didn't post anything during the past 1 week.. was busy.. with preparation for CNY.. and the last few days busy with eating.. hahahaha... :p

Shall write more next week when I go back to my hometown from Kuala Lumpur.. been staying with my 4th uncle and really gorging myself silly.. I am perpetually full during my waking hours from 9am to 12midnight!! :D Think I might have just gained back the weight that I've lost during my 10-month stay in Japan within the last 4 days.. :p

期末感想

正式地上完了一个学期的修士课，颇有一些感想。。

我的大学院录取了很多非日籍的学生，所以有一些课程是用英语教课的。既然是以英语来代替日语为教课的语言，教授们及学生们的英语水平都必须到达一定的标准，可惜事实并非如此。。

老实说，在日本念研究室用英语的需要，我根本不放在眼里。就算是在一些以英语为主的国家念Masters也不会是个问题。我对我的英语表达能力非常有信心。可是到了这里，看到及接触到的一切都不是我想象。这里有很多非英语教育的学生，撇下大陆及台湾来的学生不说（因为他们多数都能说非常流利的日语），能够讲口像样的英语的，不超过30%。有些讲英语讲得吱吱唔唔的，写的报告更是丈八金刚-摸不着头脑。。如果连日常的发表或是简单的报告都无法做好的话，那么这些学生要如何清楚地发表他们学术性的论文呢？？

在我目前的大学院里，以英语教课的课程为数不多，加上执教的教授们的英语表达能力也有待加强，对我而言，的确有点大失所望。教授们用英文讲解一些事情时常常要花个老半天或需费九牛二虎之力。。他们在台上讲得吃力，我们在台下也听得辛苦。。如果那些教授以日语教课的话，也许我们会学习到3或4倍以上的东西。。这也是我要发奋学日语的原因之一。。

In less than 24 hours

... I will be on my way to the airport to go back to Malaysia for Chinese New Year.. :) :)

Lots of people have asked me if I am going back to Singapore.. well, maybe I have identified myself too strongly as a "Singaporean", rather than a Malaysian.. So I would have to explain that my family is in Malaysia, but all of my friends are in Singapore.. or at least 98% of them.. so I am going back to Malaysia for CNY, but will be dropping by Singapore to visit my friends.. :)


I'm quite nervous about tomorrow.. Haven't gone to the Narita Airport since my arrival in Japan last April.. As the taxi in Japan is freaking expensive, the meter starts from 710yen (almost SGD9.50), the only way to the airport is via public transport: bus or train..

After checking the Internet, I've decided to take the JR Narita Express from Shibuya. I went to check out the boarding platform at Shibuya yesterday, just to make sure I know where to go tomorrow... It takes about 80minutes to get from Shibuya to Narita. As with other route, JR (Japan Railways)'s trains are always more expensive than the rest. The train will cost me 1660yen, as compared to 1000yen on another railway which I had to board the train from Nippori, the opposite site of the town from where I stay.. so between paying more but more convenient versus cheaper but more hassle, I chose the former in this case.. If I haven't got much luggage, then maybe I might be game to try the cheaper but more troublesome route.. but for now I just wanna get to the airport without any hiccups..

Will be bringing my laptop home.. too many things inside that can't be copied out onto my portable hard disk, and add to the fact that both my 2.5 inch portable hard disk is acting rather weird lately.. don't wanna risk it..

Hope I will be able to wake up tomorrow.. :p been sleeping very late the past week.. as I have always known that I write best at night.. Completed 6 of my reports, with one still in progress while another is not due much much much later..
